OK, I really didn’t feel like working today, so I’ll give you some
quick reviews
Warren Ellis’ Aetheric Mechanics GN
Very interesting and very good. I am not a ginormous Ellis fan,
like many are, but I found this to be very enjoyable. The art was
very detailed and probably would have benefitted from some color.
Avengers Invaders #5
Kind of lost some momentum. I enjoyed where the last issue was
going, but this one kind of stalled. Plus, the art is slipping and
there was a lot of really stupid dialogue.
Thor #11
Still good stuff. Just wish it would come out a little more regularly.
Air #1
Interesting. A flight attendant thrown into a world of espionage.
Felt a little Ludlum-y. We’ll see how it goes.
Final Crisis Resist
Very good. The story of the last stronghold of resistance for
humanity in the Apokolips world.
Sandman The Dream Hunters #1
If you liked Sandman, you’ll love this. If you didn’t, give it a try. I
thought it was a great story and beautiful art.
Bartholomew of the Scissors #1
A quite bizarre story of the return of a murder victim seeking
vengeance. Also the story of spectral phantasms.
Amazing Spider-Man #575 & 576
A great little 2 part story. Spidey is Spidey. No angst.
Hammerhead is back (from the Special #1) and is quite
formidable. Great art and really good writing.
Incredible Hercules #122
Amadeus Cho has been kidnapped by the Amazons to be their
concubine. Hercules has a past with them, but he is not worried
for young Amadeus. Actually laughed out loud at one point.
House of M Civil War #3
The story of how Magneto took over the world. Very enjoyable.
Ultimatum #1
Ultimate Magneto is really mad and is going to kill everybody.
Many appear dead, but I don’t believe it.
Justice Society of America #20
Starman make some semblance of the multiverse, but where is
Gog and his little buddy?
Marvel Zombies 3 #2
As far as stories beating dead horses, this one wasn’t bad, but it
was a little confusing since the point of the series was that the
Zombies were on our world, but the whole issue takes place on
Zombie world.
Invincible Iron Man #7
With all of the rumors about bad things happening to Iron Man at
the end of Secret Invasion, I expected this to be just a fill-in issue,
but it was probably the best book of the week, if not for a long
time.
Punisher War Journal Annual #1
A whole lot of fun. Sadly I read it right after the last regular issue
and the 2 did not mesh. But it was a lot of fun on its own.
